Original Wellsaline Super Lubricants – Super Sign!

A recent purchase and we just had to share it with you, this superb and completely original Wellsaline enamel has recently joined our personal collection. A very rare piece in this form, some double sided flange type signs also survive, in a much darker green base and with black writing to the top.

You may think this sign looks familiar, well in recent years hundreds of fakes have emerged, many sold at autojumbles, antiques fairs and that famous internet auction site.. very crude in finish and dark in colour, flat and convex metal. There is always a place for reproduction items but out and out fakes produced to dupe buyers is something we do not condone, we’re proud to offer only genuine original signage to our clients.

Dispensers Saved!

A pair of dispensers saved from disaster by their previous owner! Purchased by us from the small country garage they have been at from new, they had spent many years stored in a building due for demolition and were pulled from the site moments before the builders took over. Theyll make great additions to any collection once restored.

Rare Dunlop Showcard

A rare and early Dunlop tyre showcard that recently surfaced via an antiques specialist in Ireland. A UK piece, of painted hard board construction, circa 1893-1896, prior to the company name change to include Dunlop. How has this delicate piece survived for at least 123 years! Now on it’s way to a top UK collection, we have been privileged to handle this little advertising sign and know its found the right home.

We love receiving photographs from our valued clients and one very happy customer has kindly sent us pictures of his latest purchase. We loved working on this pump and are glad to see it will be enjoyed for many years to come. Delivered by us in person, a long but satisfying trip from our Devonshire base. As always with our pumps this is a genuine original 1960s piece, finished to a high standard and restored retaining it’s original internal components.

Buried Treasure!

Here at V.A. we love the hunt for those elusive items.

We were recently approached regards the purchase of this rare early oil cabinet top enamel sign, which was found a few weeks ago by a homeowner just 10 minutes away from our Devonshire base, buried in their back garden! With the house itself being over 60 years old, who knows how long this beauty had been hidden underground! The enamel finish has survived remarkably well with good colour and relatively minor damage overall.

Now cleaned up and available for sale, see ‘Signs’ page for further details.

Shell Jug Finds New Home

A superb and early 1920s black colour Shell oil pourer from our own collection has found itself a new home. Snapped up by a regular valued client and major UK collector who saw it on our Facebook page before it had a chance to hit the website sales pages. We’ll be hand delivering this one shortly along with some other items. Plenty of interest in this rare pourer, we look forward to hunting down another one for the next collector.

We are delighted to have been able to bring home this early electric Avery Hardoll 298 Pump this week in its original National Benzole logos. One of the first pumps we ever purchased! It served from new outside a cycle shop in Surbiton and has had a varied life since going into preservation. We have a few little jobs to do and it’ll be ready for display again.
